Firefighters have tackled a small fire amongst the woodland at Parkhurst Forest this afternoon (Sunday).
1 appliance from Newport was mobilised to the Forestry Commission-run land at 12:45 following reports of a small fire developing.
The single crew quickly identified the location of the fire and used plenty of water to dowse the flames.
It is thought that a campfire re-ignited or was simply left unattended.
The affected area is relatively small thanks to the swift actions of Newport’s wholetime crew.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now stood down from the incident.
