UPDATED: Police were called to a road traffic collision involving a Skoda Fabia on Lake High Street late last night (Saturday).
The red hatchback sustained heavy front end damage after colliding with a number of bollards lining the carriageway. Airbags were deployed.
Debris was left scattered across the road and the pavement as a result of the impact.
The incident occurred shortly before midnight and prompted the attendance of no less than 4 Police units.
No other vehicles are thought to have been involved and no one was injured.
UPDATE @ 09:46 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that 22-year-old Madeleine Evans of Victoria Road, Shanklin has been charged with using a motor vehicle on a road or in a public place without third party insurance. She will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 23rd November.
