Firefighters are working to extinguish the small blaze using a hose reel.
One neigbour has said:
“I heard a bang and then saw flames, so I called the fire service straight away”.
The alarm was raised at around 14:35.
UPDATE @ 14:55 – A second appliance from Newport has now arrived at the incident, but the situation has been swiftly brought under control by the on-call Ryde crew.
Firefighters have dowsed the flames and are now working to damp down the area.
UPDATE @ 15:06 – The fire has completely destroyed the garden shed and has spread to a nearby fence.
External heat damage has been sustained to the corner a neighbouring property and has melted the Sky dish. Checks are being carried out to ensure the fire has not spread to the eves.
