The search for a missing man led to a multi-agency response to Sandown Esplanade earlier this evening (Wednesday) – but the individual was subsequently located inland.
Shortly before 17:40, Police rushed to the Sandown Pier area of the seafront when reports were received of concerns for a missing male.
The assistance of HM Coastguard was requested with Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams blue lighting to the area, with further assistance mobilised in the form of lifeboats from Bembridge RNLI and Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat.
However, the situation was quickly resolved when the male was located by Police elsewhere on the Island.
The incident was brought to a close just after 18:00 – just before the lifeboats hit the water.
