A Citroen Saxo has collided head on into a lamp post in the Shide area of Newport tonight (Wednesday).
Police are currently on scene at the Asda roundabout on St George’s Way having been alerted to the single vehicle incident at around 22:30.
It’s understood the driver lost control of the car before ploughing into the street furntiture. Neither drink nor drugs have had any part to play in the incident.
The hatchback has sustained significant front end damage and has caused damage to a new lamp post, which has buckled.
Stag Lane Motors are recovering the vehicle and island roads have been called to inspect the damaged light.
The road remains open.
