A father-and-daughter duo from Ryde Swimming Club flew the flag for the Isle of Wight at a major Masters meet in Reading.
Matthew Sussmes and Imogen Sussmes competed at the Reading Swimming Club Masters Spring Meet on Saturday, taking on a wide field of swimmers from more than 50 clubs across London, the South East, South West, Suffolk and Wales.
Imogen, competing in the 30-34 age group, won medals in both of her events. She claimed silver in the 50m butterfly and bronze in the 50m freestyle, recording personal best times in both races.
Matthew, swimming in the 60-64 age group, also raced in the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle. He secured silver in the freestyle and bronze in the butterfly, finishing slightly outside his personal bests but still close to his fastest times.
The results come as Ryde Swimming Club’s Masters section continues to grow, with recent new members helping to raise standards and push swimmers on in training.
Ryde Masters will next be in action at the Isle of Wight Sprints in May, before heading to the Hampshire Masters County Championships in June, where a strong turnout is expected.
