A road in Ryde was blocked for a short time this morning (Sunday) following a single vehicle road traffic collision.
A brand new Nissan collided with a wall on Appley Road at just before 08:30.
The impact not only caused damage to the front nearside corner of the vehicle, but left the car side-on across the carriageway. Airbags were deployed.
Motorists were being diverted around the scene of the crash via Marina Avenue for a time but the road has now reopened following recovery of the vehicle.
The occupants of the Nissan have not suffered any serious injury.

And another single vehicle ‘accident’
Are you suggesting it was deliberate?
Drugs, drunk, or ancient driver. Yet most prefer the more unlikely options of car fault, driver sudden illness, or swerving to avoid a toddler etc.
Phil knows…
Any attempt to reason with you is pointless, there is without doubt times your comment would be right, unless you KNOW what happened don’t comment.
Kev, this site is for public chat including assumptions. As the wall never leapt out, we can assume it was ONE of my suggestions, so why the hate?
IF I suggest it might be the driver had a heart attack, that, in your biased mind, such would be fine.
What a weirdo.
I shall continue to assume, and post my thoughts, and suggest YOU give up this site and tune into Isle of Wight radio, and in a week or two, you ‘may’ get the facts that you so badly need, and in the mean time, you can cover your ears and mouth, in case you offend this unknown someone by jumping to the ‘wrong’ or possibly RIGHT conclusion
Az-zahra Aziz, I don’t detect any ‘hate’ in Kev’s comment – where did you get that from?
And why do you feel it necessary to insult him by calling him ‘a weirdo’?
If anyone deserves that appellation, I would say it’s you!
And you know all the facts do you
No doubt the wall jumped out in front of car.
This is getting a regular event.
More bad driving on the I o w
And again, we’ll said phil
More stating the bleeding obvious, Ben.
Not a Skyline, so not much to cry about over the car being wrecked tbh
An ancient driver does not mean automatic accidents. Look at the stats.
I am 97 never had an accident still drive a Porsche and my passengers always feel safe.
Ron there are always exceptions to every rule. Pleased you drive safely, long may you continue to do so.
Nice to hear both occupants of car ok (so cant have been a medical episode), so how do you crash on a straight road with a 30mph speed limit? Send your answers on a postcard for your chance to win a new Nissan.
