The withdrawal from service of Red Funnel’s freight vessel, Red Kestrel, will impact thousands of festival revellers heading back to the mainland today (Monday). Red Funnel says it is expecting its East Cowes-Southampton route to be extremely busy today due to the impact of Red Kestrel being out of service, for undisclosed reasons. The cross-Solent operator has been forced to implement a revised timetable from midday today as a result, with sailings pushed back by an hour. It comes following issues with the aft engine on Red Eagle yesterday (Sunday), which led to fears of major disruption. However, the firm managed to get Red Eagle back in action in time for today’s exodus from the Island – only for Red Kestrel to now be withdrawn.
