SOLENT Coastguard Rescue helicopter 104 is currently searching the seas off the Isle of Wight for three missing divers.

A 999 emergency call was made shortly before 12.45 from the diving vessel ‘Skua’ approximately 3 miles south of the Island’s coast after a diver surfaced rapidly and was suspected to be suffering from the bends.

During the operation to rescue the diver, a Mayday call was relayed by Solent Coastguard that three divers in the same area are missing.

Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat has been launched to assist in the search.

Updated @ 13.30: It is understood that the missing divers have been located. Rescue 104 safely airlifted the diver with suspected bends  to the Royal Bournemouth General Hospital Poole Hospital before returning to base. Yarmouth RNLI was stood down.

ON the other side of the Island, Ryde Inshore Rescue have aided a fishing boat that was experiencing engine problems off of Ryde Sandbanks.

The boat’s anchor became stuck around a piece of rope, which has now been freed and the engine has been restarted.
