3 cross-Solent routes have been suspended due to the adverse weather conditions being experienced today (Tuesday). With gusts of 94mph recorded at The Needles, Hovertravel services between Ryde and Southsea have been suspended for most of the day. Now, Red Funnel has confirmed that its hi-speed Red Jet service between West Cowes and Southampton has been suspended. Wightlink have also suspended their Fastcat service between Ryde Pier Head and Portsmouth Harbour, with delays of 30 minutes on the car ferry between Fishbourne and Portsmouth Gunwharf. Southern Vectis is diverting its Route 12 buses as buses are currently unable to serve Military Road. UPDATE @ 15:15 – Red Funnel has confirmed that its East Cowes-Southampton vehicle ferry service is now also suspended until further notice. However, Wightlink says that its Fastcat services are to resume at 15:15 from Portsmouth. UPDATE – All services are now running to timetable.
