The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have responded to a call out in Wootton this evening (Tuesday) – but fears of a property fire have been well and truly extinguished.
2 appliances – from Newport and Ryde – were mobilised to Kite Hill, near the junction with Barge Lane, at around 16:55.
The crews promptly arrive on scene to discover controlled burning in a small garden, which had been mistaken for a fire within a property.
Both appliances and a duty officer have now left the scene having given words of advice to the homeowner.
