POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS CONTAINERS WASH UP ON ISLAND BEACHES

The Isle of Wight Council say they have been made aware of a number of 5 litre containers that have washed up along a number of Island beaches today (Thursday).

Council officials are working with the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and HM Coastguard to locate and safely remove the containers, which could contain a hazardous liquid.

Members of the public are being advised to avoid ALL contact with the containers. All sightings should be reported to the Isle of Wight Council on 01983 821000 ex 8720 or, if out of hours, Wightcare on 01983 821105.

It is thought the items have been spotted on the South side of the Island.
