FOUND: Police have now located the male they wish to speak to.
Police have issued a CCTV image of man we would like to speak to after a shoplifting incident at Sainsbury’s in Ryde.
On Christmas Eve (24th December) shortly before 18:00, a man placed around thirty boxes of chocolate, worth £180, in a bag before leaving Sainsbury’s on Union Street without paying for them.
Following enquiries, we are now able to share an image of a man who was seen in the area at the time and we believe may be able to assist with our investigation into this incident.
He is described as:
- Between 20 to 30-years-old
- White
- 5ft 9inchs tall
- Medium build
- With brown or dark blonde hair
- Wearing a red jacket over a jumper and dark blue trousers
A Police spokesperson has said:
“If you recognise this man or were in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, please call 101 and quote 44250578742.
“Additionally, we’d like to hear from you if you have CCTV, dashcam, mobile phone, or doorbell camera footage that may assist our enquiries.
“You can also share any information with us online via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website, below: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or report via their website, below: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/”

If that is the cctv picture of the “suspect” then is it the back view of a dodgy policeman? Why not post the proper subject’s photo if they want a name instead of a description that would fit thousands of Island men!!
….but can’t be bothered to investigate a burglary that took someone’s life savings even though they have enough evidence.
“We knocked on his door but but he didn’t answer so we can’t do anything”
Classy cctv pic, shouldn’t be hard to spot eh?
