UPDATED: Police, including an Armed Response Vehicle and a local Dog Unit, have descended on a block of flats in Newport tonight (Sunday).
Officers are currently in attendance at a residential property located within Russell House on Cross Lane.
The hive of activity began at around 23:00 when more than 5 units arrived on scene. Such was the hurry that 1 vehicle has been left in the middle of the road with all the blue lights still flashing.
Local residents have told Island Echo that the road was blocked for a time, however, no restrictions are currently in force for pedestrians or vehicular traffic.
UPDATE @ 00:50 – Officers have now stood down from the incident following a search by the Police dog.
UPDATE MONDAY @ 10:44 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.
He remains in Police custody this morning.
