UPDATED: Police are in attendance at Nelson Road, Newport this evening (Wednesday) following what unconfirmed reports suggest is a man armed with a knife.
4 Police cars and a van responded to the scene near Linden Road at speed at around 18:45.
The incident is thought to be isolated and contained with no suggestion of any wider threat to the community.
UPDATE @ 21:00 – Police have now left the scene. No one is thought to have been arrested.
