MAN SUSTAINS ‘LIFE-CHANGING’ INJURIES IN SHANKLIN INCIDENT

UPDATED: A man has sustained ‘life-changing injuries’ as a result of an incident at a property in Shanklin tonight (Saturday), which has resulted in 1 person being arrested by Police.

Emergency services have descended on a residential address on Green Lane at the corner of Oaklyn Gardens having been alerted to an incident unfolding there at around 20:40.

2 ambulances crews are preparing to rush the casualty to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport by land. It’s understood the air ambulance was requested earlier on but the adverse weather conditions have prevented it from responding.

Island Echo is told 1 person has been detained by Police in connection with the incident.

UPDATE SUNDAY @ 10:15 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that officers were deployed to reports of an assault at a property on Green Lane last night.

A 48-year-old woman remains in Police custody this morning.

The casualty, a man in his 50s, has received treatment for an arm injury.

Investigations into the incident continue.
