A person has got into difficulty and is requiring the assistance of HM Coastguard on the cliffs at Luccombe this afternoon (Monday).
Solent Coastguard paged both Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams to reports of a person on the cliffs between Shanklin and Ventnor at around 15:45.
Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat has also been tasked to join the rescue mission this afternoon.
UPDATE @ 16:45 – Sandown Lifeboat is now on scene and has made contact with a male, who is accompanied by his dog, on the beach at Luccombe.
The lifeboat crew are now working alongside HM Coastguard colleagues to rescue the female, who is said to be stuck on the cliff.
A number of Police officers are in attendance on the clifftop.
UPDATE @ 17:00 – The crew of Sandown Lifeboat have successfully rescued the pair and their dog and have landed them safely at Shanklin Seafront.
A first responder, a rapid response paramedic and an Ambulance Officer have joined Coastguard Officers in rendezvousing with the casualties at the site of the old Shanklin Pier.
The duo are being checked over by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
UPDATE @ 18:00 – Emergency teams have now been stood down from the incident.
Thankfully, neither casualty has required hospital treatment.
