A person has been left cold and wet, but uninjured, after entering the water at Seagrove Bay near Seaview this morning (Tuesday).
HM Coastguard was alerted to the situation by concerned members of the public shortly before 10:30, resulting in Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team being immediately tasked to the scene.
Upon arrival of Coastguards, it was discovered that the man was out of the water but his RIB boat was smashing against the rocks.
Island Echo is told that the gentleman was trying to bring his boat ashore after it slipped its anchor. The rough seas proved too much and the man ended up in the water with the boat’s engine still running, but not engaged.
The rigid inflatable remains on an anchor line this morning but is smashing against the rocks along the shore. Coastguard officers are now determining the best course of action to recover the boat, which poses a potential hazard to shipping and pollution risk.

Some people wouldn’t be safe with a pond yacht!
So how did he get to his boat if it were at anchor? Sounds like a man with no respect for the sea, thought it would be fun to play!!!!
