Police and paramedics responded to a collision between a pedestrian and a car outside Wootton Primary School this afternoon (Thursday) – just moments before a similar incident outside a school in Newport.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to Church Road, Wootton at 14:47 to reports that a car had struck a pedestrian outside the local primary school, just as children prepared to finish the school day.
Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Thankfully, the pedestrian sustained only minor injuries. Their age is unknown. Just 20 minutes later, emergency services were called to a child being hit by a car outside Summerfields Primary School in Newport, as previously reported by Island Echo.
