Torrential downpours throughout the night have led to flooding on the Island’s roads, including at Sandown where the road has been closed.
A yellow weather warning for heavy rain was issued by IW Met Service yesterday (Wednesday), with the forecast proving correct with rain falling overnight and continuing this morning.
Avenue Road in Sandown is severely flooded which has led to Island Roads instigating an emergency road closure between Broadway Roundabout and the junction with Perowne Way.
Elsewhere, flooding has been reported at Sandown Road, Shanklin and at Blackwater Road near Arreton, as well as at Great Preston Road in Ryde.
Motorists should take extra care on the roads.
No lack of road gully maintenance has caused flooding there has always being rain but never this much flooding sort it out island lakes

All the leaves and debris from the high winds wash down and block the drains.
Simple if you think about it rather than knee jerk blame island roads.

I had a letter from SW stating even though we have had rain levels are still low on mainland so the ban is still in force to best of my knowledge. Personally not worth chancing it unless you have a couple of thousand to give to SW as a fine.

He cares nothing for others. My kids can’t get in my car to go to school as he parks opposite and cars nearly hit them as they climb in or out.
South African Police would arrest him and sell his van for doing such dangerous parking.

Not daft in the slightest. If it snows and people get told to NOT travel, what do that do? Ignore the warnings, clog up the roads and run the risk of causing accidents and further delays to other muppets on the road. Health before wealth everytime, no debate. Lol
