MOTHER AND DAUGHTER WHO STOLE FROM VULNERABLE VICTIMS JAILED

L-R: Cherelle Clarke, 26, and her mother Dionne Clarke, 54

A mother and daughter have been jailed for a series of thefts from vulnerable victims on the Isle of Wight.

Dionne Clarke, 54, and her daughter Cherelle Clarke, 26, of Lowtherville Road in Ventnor, pleaded guilty to a total of 13 offences at Isle of Wight Crown Court.

The court heard the pair stole items including £600 cash, a mobile phone, a bus pass, handbag, and a 91-year-old woman’s will in their spree in August and September this year.

A judge today (Friday) jailed Dionne for 2 years and Cherelle for 21 months.

It was heard the pair were in Halifax bank, in Newport High Street, when they spotted a 91-year-old woman withdrawing cash. After following her from the branch, Dionne stole a small bag containing £600 and the woman’s will from her handbag. The court was told Dionne and Cherelle had also been involved in a string of further thefts before that.

On 15th September, they stole an elderly woman’s handbag from a trolley while she was shopping, using her bank card to purchase items for themselves. They also admitted a burglary from The Salvation Army’s Fellowship House, in Green Street, Ryde on 8th August, in which they stole a mobile phone and bus pass, and the theft of a further mobile phone from a council volunteer on August 12.

It was heard that on 5th September, they also stole a wallet from a car, fraudulently using a bank card from the wallet and shoplifted coffee and cheese from Sainsbury’s on 13th September.

Both admitted 4 counts of theft, 1 of burglary and 1 of shoplifting. Dionne also admitted 1 charge of possessing a class C drug.

Investigating officer PC Mathew Rumsey said:

“Dionne and Cherelle Clarke preyed upon vulnerable and elderly victims, stealing a large sum of money from one woman.

“They have shown no remorse for the distress they caused the victims of their criminal acts throughout our investigation.

“Their offending started as soon as they came to the Isle of Wight and at no stage have they apologised for the harm they have caused or told us where items such as the will and money are.

“Those who target the elderly and vulnerable will always be pursued by Hampshire Constabulary and brought to account.”

Look at the mother smirking in her mug shot! Vile. Stealing is gross as it is, but to steal from vulnerable elderly people, well that’s just downright disgusting. This world gets more depressing by the day.

Pathetic sentence for the worry and distress they have caused, hopefully when they arrive in prison she might smirk at the wrong prisoners who will wipe the smirk from her face

And are they also benefit claimants – able to work (obviously) but parasitically living off the rest of us decent citizens? This utter worthless scum should be made to pay their victims back in full (if that’s even possible), then sentenced to two year’s hard labour, not just ‘community service’.
Then send them off the Island in a very leaky boat . . .

When will the punishment fit the crime. There is a lot to be said for the punishment handed out in Saudi Arabia for theft.
Off with the hand!!!

The mother is not even remotely bothered – this is simply an inconvenience to her and is very matter of fact – she will do one year, tops and then be out.

Chances are the mother has had the daughter on the rob for years.

Clearly this is how they live, career criminals that see prison as a mere occupational hazard. Sadly there is precious little you can do about it. The mother will always be involving herself in some sort of gutter level, low life, petty thievery, to fund her irrelevant and pointless existence.

Sad characters, that really ought to be back under the rock they crawled out of.

Lowlife scum, sentence far too lenient, they’ll be back on the streets soon, like a couple of vampires, preying on the weak.

In a number of states in America if you commit a criminal offence you are punished and to be fair the punishments are a lot harsher than here in the UK but upon your release if you have a criminal record this prevents you from being able to get child benefit, social housing And other things that these criminals often exploit hard-working taxpayers for. Now without assuming I can only imagine that these two individuals do not own property and that they are looked after by the UK taxpayers. All of their possessions should be sold at public auction and the funds should be allocated towards the cost of their trial, police and their imprisonment and when they come out they should have minimal access to any services. If we imposed such harder rules this would then impact on crime and hopefully reduce criminal activity because quite frankly people In the UK are committing crimes with the confidence that they will often get a slap on the wrist and return to a comfy life upon their release at the cost to the UK Taxpayer again. In this country we care too much about peoples human rights well what about the victims human rights in this case and it is quite possible that this elderly woman’s Life has just been shortened because of the trauma caused by these two scumbags.

And here we have it, your typical Labour supporters, these two individuals Are exactly the type of people who support and vote labour because labour tax and punish hard-working individuals to allow scumbags like these to live a free life with homes is provided, Council tax discounted and many other free benefits.
