UPDATED: Hampshire Constabulary and WightSAR – the Island’s voluntary search and rescue team – are conducting a missing person search at Parkhurst Forest tonight (Monday).
Search and rescue operatives were called into action at the request of the Police at around 21:40, with specialist search dogs from the mainland placed on standby a few minutes later.
A search of the dense forest area in Newport is now underway in total darkness.
Hampshire Constabulary have not released any public appeals for information at this stage.
UPDATE @ 00:30 – Police have now issued a formal appeal for information in regards to missing 49-year-old Mark Lockwood from Newport.

UPDATE TUESDAY – Mr Lockwood has been found and well this morning.
