Police have launched a search for a missing person in Ryde this evening (Wednesday), with HM Coastguard and WightSAR called in to assist.
Coastguard Rescue Officers from Bembridge and Ventnor are currently on scene at Appley, where Police have given a briefing on the situation.
WightSAR – the Island’s volunteer Lowland search and rescue organisation – have been called out and team members are also arriving at the seaside location.
A search is commencing along the seafront in the hopes of locating the missing individual – thought to be a woman.
Cowes RNLI Lifeboat has also been launched.

UPDATE @ 21:20 – Georgina has been found safe and well. Search teams have now stood down.
