A minor road traffic collision involving a small van has resulted in the diversion of buses in the West Wight this evening (Monday).
The incident has occurred on Afton Road outside the Co-Operative store.
Police are in attendance and have coned the area off. The road remains open to traffic but larger vehicles are unable to pass safely.
Southern Vectis say that their Route 7 buses are diverting using Stroud Road, Victoria Road (the Route 12 route), turning left at Afton Road then right on to Middle Road then as per posted diversion.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service initially responded to the incident but were stood down en-route.
Damage to the front nearside of the vehicle has been sustained. It is thought a second vehicle – a dark green Citroen Belingo – has also been involved.
UPDATE @ 17:57 – Southern Vectis buses will now revert to their advertised route as the scene of the crash is passable.

And now for another predictable comment, herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrres Phil Macavity
I hope not.
Probably right though
Gosh, now another manic driver. I worry now every time my bert leaves the house. The streets on the Island seem to be like London nowadays. slow down, the island is only small and even if you drives fast, it will only save you a few minutes on a journey but may cost you your life or worse someone innocents.
Like London? Don’t think you’d get up much speed there! More like a standstill!
Speed was not a factor. an elderly man pulled out from the road next to the co op with no lights on into the path of the white van.
