Island Roads have closed a section of Middle Road on the outskirts of Carisbrooke this lunchtime (Wednesday).
Emergency tree cutting works have resulted in the closure of the busy road in both directions between Nodgeham Lane and Manor Farm Lane.
Motorists are being diverted via Gunville, Forest Road and Betty Haunt Lane in both directions.
It is unknown how long the works will last but the road is expected to re-open later on today.
Southern Vectis say that Route 7 buses via Calbourne and Newbridge will be diverting via Gunville, Forest Road to Elm Lane, Shalfleet then to Calbourne where it will return to normal route.
UPDATE @ 14:05 – Work has now been completed and the road has re-opened in both directions.
