1 person has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs following a raid on a family home on Bluebell Meadows, Newport this morning (Monday).
Mulitple officers, some clad in riot gear, descended on the address at Lavender Way shortly after 08:00. It is here that the execution of a warrant was carried out.
4 Police vans, a dog unit and an Armed Response Vehicle were all seen on the estate.
A 42-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.
The man currently remains in custody.

Looking at the amount of police there I’m surprised they didn’t call in for a air strike… what a waste
well, they are in bluebell meadows, AKA north pan.
And what will happen as a result of this ? stately homes I suggest “fook hall”
Police are powerless – magistrates hand out £1 fine over 3 years deducted from benefits – this island is rife with both users and dealers – even taxi drivers are involved in this sordid crime – until we have a proper sentencing regime this will only get worse and everyone seems to turn a blind eye to it – SAD SAD SAD
police are not powerless – they have largely turned a blind eye to consumption of drugs on the island for decades. Unless you blatantly did it in front of them, they don’t bother. No point – you get a fine and pick up some more weed on the way home.
They will only nick dealers if they get too noticeable.
Mind you, they had a “hate crime tent” at the pride event – so they were far too busy to deal with real crime.
I hope you’re not implying that a hate crime against someone of the lgbt community isn’t a real crime
The implication is that all members of society can pick up the phone and report a crime, irrespective of its nature – the police call centres are adequately staffed to deal with these reports. There is therefore no need for officers to be hanging around a public event with a hate crime tent, when those officers should be dealing with crimes that have already been reported, such as burglary victims and drug dealers. They should also be chasing down suspects and be ready at a moments notice to respond to a 999 call.
Their clear up rates are abysmal and perhaps if they focused on this area, then those that have been robbed may actually have a chance of their goods being returned and the perpetrators punished.
why have you left out the straight community in your comment – straight people can be a victim of hate crimes also.
Gosh are you offended, shall I call 111 for you?
We’ve been told that officers on PRIDE are there in their own time, not on their work-time.
Hopefully it will be a poignant message to all the drug taking, drug dealing scum that live on the island. You can’t walk down Newport high street without getting a whiff of something illegal and it shouldn’t be like that but it is. Bring back public flogging, the stocks, and hard labour and I’m not talking about Corbyn with tattoos and a pit bull.
