Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Newport this evening (Friday), in which a young male driver has sustained leg and arm injuries.
The incident has occurred on Blacklands Lane between Staplers Road and Briddlesford Road and has resulted in the road being closed in both directions.
Island Echo understands that the driver of the Ford Fiesta was forced into the side of the road by an oncoming vehicle taking up a large amount of space. The Fiesta then rebounded across the road and into a small tree.
Although the vehicle has sustained heavy damage, the driver has escaped with leg and arm injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 16:45.
