MAJOR TECHNICAL ISSUE RESULTS IN 7-WEEK REVISED TIMETABLE FOR HOVERTRAVEL

Solent Flyer in a broken state on Ryde pad this morning

Hovertravel have announced that they will be running a 1-craft, revised timetable between now and 12th November due to a major technical issue with Solent Flyer.

The cross-Solent service between Ryde and Southsea will, for the next 7 weeks, be solely reliant on the 1 remaining hovercraft, Island Flyer.

It has been confirmed that Solent Flyer has been pulled from service due to an issue with the ballast transfer system, which is thought to have manifested itself last night. This means the craft needs to leave Ryde to travel to Griffon Hoverwork at Woolston for remedial work.

The following crossings have been cancelled with immediate effect:

Monday to Friday
From Ryde: 07:30, 08:00, 16:00, 16:30, 17:00 and 17:30
From Southsea: 07:45, 08:15, 16:15, 16:45, 17:15 and 17:45

Hovertravel is asking any customers booked on these services to re-book at a different time. Customers who do not wish to transfer will receive a refund or will be offered prepaid travel with an alternative operator and apology vouchers.
