MISSING PERSON: MAJOR SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR 22-YEAR-OLD ROSIE JOHNSON


Police are appealing for information to help trace 22-year-old Rosie Johnson who has gone missing from Wootton on the Isle of Wight.

Rosie was last seen at PGL Little Canada Activity Centre in Wootton on Sunday evening (23rd June). It’s here where a major search is now underway involving dozens of Police, volunteers from WightSAR and HM Coastguard teams from both Bembridge and Ventnor.

Earlier on today, the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter from Bournemouth circled in the skies above Wootton and now Ryde Rescue are involved in conducting a search on the water.

It’s said that Rosie has mousey brown hair and is of slim build. She was last seen wearing a dark blue puffa jacket and trousers, which you can see in the photo above.

The search is currently focusing on the New Road area of Wootton and surrounding lanes. Coastguard Officers are also conducting a shoreline search on the banks of the River Medina.

Members of the Wootton community are asked to help by checking sheds, boats and outbuildings. Check thoroughly and call Police on 101 with any information.

UPDATE @ 20:50 – The search for Rosie Johnson continues tonight.

WightSAR are using a drone to conduct a sweep over the marshes at Firestone Copse. Meanwhile, Coastguard Officers have conducted a shoreline search between Ryde Pier and Kings Quay.

The search is expected to continue into tomorrow (Wednesday).
