An Isle of Wight police officer has been charged with a criminal offence following an incident in December 2022, which led to the wrongful arrest of a member of the public.
PC James Martin, from Shanklin, is alleged to have failed to take immediate action to release the man from custody, once he discovered the arrest was unlawful.
The specialist dog handler has been on directed duties for several months whilst investigations have been taking place.
PC Martin is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 10th October.
And the police expect us to respect them
As with everything else, its not all of them!
Authority is given. Respect is earned
Just sack him not fit to wear that uniform, to many bad coppers that need to be kicked out of the force.
Meanwhile the entire former Conservative government and the current Labour government walk free to commit the same offence.
That’s politics for you.
