Cops have been left scratching their heads following a crash in Shanklin this evening (Saturday), in which a car has come to a stop on top of a lamppost.
A red Renault Megane has completely flattened the piece of street furniture on Clarendon Road, just off North Road.
It’s currently unclear how the driver of the hatchback has managed to get into such an awkward predicament.
Police are currently on scene awaiting recovery of the vehicle and the attendance of Island Roads.
No one inside the car is thought to have been injured despite the impact forcing the airbags to deploy. Thankfully, no pedestrians have been involved.
The road remains open as usual.

Excellent parking!
I think the Isle of Wight must miss me because that was the sort of s#!t i did.
No we don’t miss people like you!
There’s plenty more to take your place
Does my bum look big on this?
Hope the driver is charged with the cost of a new lamp post.
