2 lifeboats and a Coastguard Rescue Team are currently involved in a search of Sandown Bay following the discovery of a jet ski.
A concerned member of the public called in the find – just off Culver Parade – at around 20:00, prompting Solent Coastguard to task Bembridge RNLI’s inshore and all weather lifeboats, plus Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team.
The search and rescue assets have begun a search of the local area as the light fades.
UPDATE – The search has now been called off.
It has transpired that the jet ski has been moored in the Bay for some time and no persons are thought to be in danger.
All resources have returned to station.
