Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat dashed to Sandown Bay earlier this afternoon (Friday).
HM Coastguard tasked the lifeboat and Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team to a potential dinghy floating out to sea off Yaverland.
Bembridge’s D-class lifeboat launched shortly before 17:00 and once on scene it was quickly established that a fisherman in a boat, located around half a mile off the shore, was in no danger.
The incident was brought to a swift close and all resources – which included local Police – were stood down.
