Islanders have until Friday to donate just £5 to charity for a chance to participate in this year’s Bestival Ryde Slide, which returns for a second year on 17th July.
Following on from the success of the inaugural event in 2015, the Bestival-sponsored fun-filled event returns to Union Street, Ryde on Sunday 17th July.
Hopefuls who want to be in with a chance of slipping and sliding down one of the Island’s busiest streets at top speed are being asked to make a donation of £5 to be entered into a prize draw. All donations will go to local charities Aspire; Ryde Inshore Rescue; Wight Brainy Bunch; Ryde Arena and The Waterside Trust.
This year the slide will sport a slightly different design, starting further down the hill, but will be faster than ever. There are 600 places up for grabs.
Organisers are running a fancy dress competition for the 600 people lucky enough to be chosen to slide. From futuristic frogmen and novel Neptunians to space age seadogs and ladies of the lake, let your imaginations run wild and you could win prizes including tickets to this year’s Future-themed Bestival and Bestival Ryde Slide t-shirts. And to top it all off, there will be a Bestival Soundsystem with DJs including Rob da Bank to keep the party atmosphere going all day long.
The event will run from 11:00-18:00 on Sunday 17th July 2016 from the top of Union Street, Ryde.
