2 people have been towed to safety after their jet ski broke down off Yaverland this morning (Monday), prompting the launch of Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat.
The volunteer lifeboat crew was tasked by Solent Coastguard at 11:38 following reports of a broken-down jet ski with 2 people on board near the Redcliffs at Yaverland Beach.
Launching in clear conditions, the crew made its way to the scene where once alongside the stricken jet ski, volunteers checked that both casualties were safe and well before establishing a secure tow.
The jet ski, with both people remaining on board, was then towed safely back to the slipway at Yaverland.
By 12:32, the jet ski had been recovered from the water and the incident had been brought to a safe conclusion.
Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat has highlighted that both casualties were wearing lifejackets, describing it as an important reminder of the need for correct safety equipment when heading out on the water.
