
Zac Lacey from Ryde has won Silver in the 100m butterfly at the Virtus Global Games in Vichy, France.
Zac – who is a member of Seaclose swimming club – came 2nd in the final with a time of 1min 19secs, 5 seconds behind Gold medallist Vincente Pereira of Portugal.
Carlos Hernandez of Spain rounded off the podium, just 0.35 seconds behind Zac.
Down Syndrome Swimming Great Britain wrote:
“He went and did it! Turning out of medal contention, Zac picked his way through the field to take a well-earned silver medal ii2 100m butterfly. Congratulations Zac.”
Earlier in the week, Zac came 6th in the final of the 200m butterfly with a time of 3mins 25secs. He was also 5th in the 50m butterfly final with a personal best time of 33.73 seconds.
Zac’s silver medal is his 6th podium place in major global competitions. In 2022, he won 5 medals in the World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships in Portugal: 1 gold and 4 silver.
