Medina Bookshop in Cowes will be hosting the launch of The Alchemist’s Oracle, a deck of oracle cards created by Island-based illustrator Zoe Sadler on Friday 4th April at 18:00.
Having worked for 15 years as an illustrator of cards, children’s books and jigsaws, this new venture is a departure for Zoe, but one that represents the culmination of her lifelong passions for nature, medicinal plants, and ancient wisdom. The artist can often be found foraging in the fresh air to find materials to make her own inks and paints; the Island and its nature provide the inspiration to take the everyday and ordinary and turn it into something even more extraordinary and magical.
The Alchemist’s Oracle consists of 48 cards and a guidebook. Each card is a piece of art, infused with the essence of alchemy and the natural world and inspired by a (metaphorical) magic potion with transformative properties. With the help of the 176 page guidebook, the cards are designed to help unlock the wisdom of the alchemical symbols and elements, guiding you through a playful odyssey of self-discovery. More than a tool, the deck is a spirited companion – a whimsical passport to a world where self-love and emotional wellbeing grow in abundance.
Everyone is welcome to the free event at Medina Bookshop on Friday 4th to enjoy a glass of wine, meet the artist and learn a little more about the cards and the journey that lead to their creation. There will also be a temporary exhibition of some of the original artwork and a selection of Zoe’s previous books for children including The Lighthouse Keeper and Chasing Butterflies.
