Island Echo has once again been recognised for its forward-thinking approach and business success, earning a Highly Commended award in the Entrepreneur category at the Isle of Wight Chamber Business Awards 2025.
The black-tie awards ceremony, held at Cowes Yacht Haven last Friday (9th May) and sponsored by WRS, celebrated the very best of the Island’s business talent, with top honours handed out across a range of sectors.
WightFibre were one of the evening’s big winners, taking home the prestigious Business of the Year award for their continued innovation and infrastructure investment across the Isle of Wight.
In the Entrepreneur category, sponsored by Red Funnel, the top prize was awarded to Pinnicle Suites Hotel in Cowes. The Highly Commended accolade for Island Echo in this category highlights the strength and impact of the publication’s entrepreneurial efforts in the local media landscape over the past 13 years.
This latest recognition follows previous successes for Island Echo, including being named Micro Business of the Year at the IW Chamber Awards in 2019 and winning a national title – ICNN Community News Website of the Year – at newsawards2021.
Darren Toogood, Editor and Publisher of Island Echo, has said:
“It was fantastic to be shortlisted in two highly competitive categories alongside such a high calibre of Isle of Wight businesses. Congratulations to everyone who was nominated this year.
“Although we didn’t walk away with the Growth Award on this occasion, being recognised with a Highly Commended in the Entrepreneur category is a huge honour and testament to the hard work, creativity and ambition that goes into running a truly independent news outlet.
“We’re incredibly proud to serve the Isle of Wight community and will continue pushing boundaries to deliver trusted news for our readers every single day.”
Well done and well deserved, keep up the
good work.
