A crash between a Nissan Micra and a Ford Transit van has resulted in the closure of West Street in Ryde this morning (Thursday).
The incident has occurred on the lower section near the junction with Garfield Road.
Southern Vectis buses heading into Ryde are having to divert via St John’s Road, Bennet Street and Park Road to reach town.
Police have closed the one-way road from Queens Road.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene and are checking over the occupants of the Micra, with only minor injuries reported.
The road is expected to re-open shortly.
UPDATE – The incident has now been cleared and buses have resumed a normal route.

To many accidents on a daily basis
The island is populated by 142,000 people. An accident or two a day, would you still consider that bad averages? I think not
Our roads are riddaled with idiots….keep your eyes peeled when driving because we are all in danger..
Noone was hurt though.. Surely thats the main concern!? No one ever intends to crash, accedents happen.. I’m sure the driver is no idiot, just in shock probably and lucky to have not hurt themselves or aanyone else!
