This is your weekly round-up of the latest court news, covering some of the cases heard by the Isle of Wight Combined Court over the past week.

Week to 30th November 2018
• Kevin Lee Greenwood, 39, of Godric Road in Newport admitted driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug (benzolecgonine) above the specified limit when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Greenwood was banned from driving for 3 years, given a 3-month community order to run concurrently with an existing order and ordered to pay £170.
• Robert Catlin, 37, of Crossway in Bembridge admitted attempting to meet a 14-year-old child following grooming and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child when he appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Magistrates adjourned the case to the Isle of Wight Crown Court where Catlin will be sentenced on 21st December.
• Emma Blackman, 25, of HMP Bronzefield, appeared before the Isle of Wight Crown Court today (Friday) where she admitted 3 counts of handling stolen goods and misleading the Isle of Wight Council into spending money.
Blackman was sentenced to 7 months in prison – suspended for 2 years.
• Gavin Michael Price, 44, of Downsview in Sandown appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court today (Friday) accused of 26 different offences – for which he did not enter any pleas.
Price is accused of 14 charges of possessing knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place; 2 charges of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place; possessing an imitation firearm in a public place; obstructing/resisting a constable in the execution of duty; 2 charges of driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence; failing to provide a specimen for analysis; 2 charges of using a motor vehicle on a road without a valid test certificate and 2 charges of using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance.
Price will appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 21st December.
• Peter Ian Hayday, 54, of Station Road in Brading admitted theft from a shop – namely numerous assorted food items from Tesco Ryde – when he appeared before Magistrates this week.
Hayday was given a 6-month community order and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £85 surcharge. He was fined 340 and told to complete 10 rehabilitation days.
• David William Saunders, 26, of Highfield Road in Newport appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Monday where he admitted driving a motor vehicle dangerously; using a motor vehicle without third party insurance; driving a motor vehicle otherwise in accordance with a licence; driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above specified limit and failing to stop a mechanically propelled vehicle when required by constable/traffic warden.
Magistrates adjourned the case to the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 21st December.
