The pursuit of a vehicle by Police has come to an end on a remote country lane in Wroxall tonight (Wednesday) – with the National Police Air Service helicopter called in to assist in locating a number of individuals.
The incident began sometime around 23:00 when a vehicle failed to stop for Police, leading officers on a pursuit through Wroxall, up Manor Road and onto Middle Barn Lane.
The vehicle has since been dumped on farmland close to St Boniface Down at the far end of an almost off-road track. The occupants have fled.
The NPAS helicopter from Bournemouth is currently assisting officers on the ground in covering the vast open area between Wroxall and Ventnor.
It’s understood at least 2 individuals have been arrested and taken to Newport Police Station for questioning. It’s thought a third male is outstanding.
Island Echo is told that the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service was present on the scene early on, but it is unclear as to who has been injured and by what means. The ambulance has since left the scene and responded on blue lights to St Mary’s Hospital.
A large Police presence remains in Wroxall and the NPAS helicopter continues to circle overhead.
It is currently unknown why the vehicle failed to stop.
UPDATE @ 00:45 – The Police helicopter has now stood down from the search and has returned to Bournemouth.
Recovery of the vehicle has been arranged.
UPDATE THURSDAY – 3 men have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences following last night’s pursuit, which resulted in a Police car colliding with a suspect vehicle.

The scum bag rats should be made to pay for the cost of the Helicopter and the police resources, this money should get automatically deducted from earnings or if they are on benefits, NO BENEFITS paid until debt for the cost of the services used are paid in full.
Well said!!!! Give this man a medal
What makes people believe it’s ok to behave like this, and what should be done to stop it?
Please don’t say education because they’re not able to be educated, most recive the same education without behaviour like this.
No snowflake excuses please..

The above comment is for comedy purposes only. No Bazookas were harmed.
