Volunteers from Hampshire Search and Rescue have been deployed to the outskirts of Newport on the Isle of Wight this morning (Sunday) as part of the continuing search for missing 51-year-old Joyce Maryon from Ryde.
Joyce was last seen on Green Street in the town at 23:50 on Tuesday night. She was wearing a distinctive fleece/jacket with a wolf design, white patterned trousers, a purple baseball cap and blue trainers with white soles. She was also carrying a black rucksack with a coloured design on.
Both Police and her family are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare as the days roll on. Joyce is described as being a white lady with pale skin and brown hair.
Police didn’t issue an appeal for information until Friday afternoon, at which point WightSAR were mobilised to conduct a search of the Ryde area alongside a specialist Police Search Advisor (POLSA) from the mainland.
Now, search technicians from HampshireSAR have been drafted in to provide additional manpower on the ground. They have travelled across the Solent this morning – with compliments of Hovertravel – to assist their Island-based colleagues.
The operational base has been shifted from St John’s Train Station in Ryde to Racecourse Roundabout on the outskirts of Newport.
Specialist drone operators from both sides of the Solent have been drafted in to conduct an aerial sweep of the open land.
Have you seen this lady since she went missing just before midnight on 9th April? If you think you recognise the description, call Police on 101, quoting 44190123466.
