Mr Johnson, of Gunville Road in Newport, has been charged with causing serious injury to 2 people in their 60s as a result of a crash on Middle Road near Calbourne on 28th May last year. He has also been charged with driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
It is alleged that the 26-year-old was driving a Honda Civic in a dangerous manner when it crashed into a Toyota Yaris at the Chessell crossroads.
The incident prompted the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance to respond to the Isle of Wight to airlift one of the injured parties to a mainland hospital.
The case will be heard in Newport tomorrow.
UPDATE TUESDAY – Joshua Johnson appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning.
The court heard how the 2 victims sustained serious injuries including 10 broken ribs, liver damage, spleen damage and a fractured pelvis.
Mr Johnson did not enter any plea and the case has been adjourned to the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 11th February 2019.
