Firefighters were mobilised to a garage fire in an affluent area of Ryde overnight.
1 appliance from Ryde was mobilised to Spencer Road in the town at 03:37 this morning (Friday) following reports of a blaze developing.
The single crew swiftly arrived on scene, close to the junction with West Street.
Forced entry was made to the up and over garage to help tackle the fire within, which is thought to have started in a store room underneath. 2 breathing apparatus and a hose reel were used to extinguish the fire. The stop message was made at just before 06:30.
Crews were mindful of the potential risk of the fire spreading to nearby important telecommunications cabinets.
Thankfully, no one has been injured in the incident but the garage has suffered fire damage.
The cause is currently unknown to this reporter but Police are expected on scene later today.

Affluent as opposed to effluent!?
Is the junction of Spencer Rd and West Street really considered “affluent” ? Hardly Virginia Water is it
Will happen more and more as electric vehicles and Chinese ( if they survive economically) or other cheap chargers and charging leads overheat and burn down garages charging these EV’s.
As long as it doesn’t happen in affluent areas
Am i not seeing the report correctly because i don’t read anywhere anything about your comment?
No dear, you have to think a little deeper. Ask a man to do it for you, if struggling.
Affluent, are you serious?
