UPDATED: FURTHER CANCELLATIONS AS RED FUNNEL HIT BY YET MORE TECHNICAL ISSUES

Red Funnel has had to cancel at least 2 early morning sailings on its vehicle ferry service today (Friday) due to yet more technical issues. The cross-Solent operator has confirmed that the 07:00 from Southampton has been pulled, as well as the 08:30 from East Cowes. It is due to an issue with the generator on board Red Falcon. It is the second time this week that an issue with Red Falcon has resulted in the cancellation of services. 2 sailings were cancelled on Wednesday morning, as previously reported by Island Echo. A revised timetable is to be in operation next Tuesday (30th July) to allow for essential maintenance to Red Osprey’s aft main engine. It’s unclear at this time if there will be any further cancellations or disruptions throughout today. UPDATE @ 07:46 – Red Funnel has now confirmed that the 10:00 from Southampton and the 11:30 from East Cowes have both been cancelled. UPDATE @ 10:11 – A further 2 cancellations have been confirmed; the 13:00 from Southampton and the 14:30 from East Cowes.
