3 fire crews rushed to a property in Carisbrooke during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) over fears occupants were trapped in a house fire.
2 appliances from Newport and 1 from Cowes, alongside a duty officer, were mobilised to High Street opposite School Lane at 01:24.
Firefighters made access to the property via a rear door following reports of a smell of burning and smoke issuing from a window.
It was soon discovered that food left in the oven was to blame for the emergency. The fire was out upon arrival and all persons were accounted for.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service quickly stood down from the incident.
