UPDATED: A flood alert has been issued for the Eastern Yar this morning (Wednesday) following a night of heavy rainfall.
About 15mm of rainfall has fallen in the last 6 hours and as a result
River levels in the Eastern Yar from Bembridge to Whitwell are responding.
River levels in the upper catchment are still rising, and are likely to peak in the next couple of hours. Meanwhile River levels at Alverstone will continue to rise, and are likely to peak late morning or early afternoon.
Impacts are likely to be seen in the upper reaches of the Eastern Yar at Arreton, Langbridge and Alverstone.
On the roads, flooding has been reported on Yarmouth Road at Cranmore and at Briddlesford Road in Wootton.
UPDATE @ 09:00 – A flood alert has also been issued by the Environment Agency for Monktpnmead Brook in Ryde and the Isle of Wight Coast.
The pumping station at Cornwall Slip, Ryde is operating correctly.
The EA are warning of some coastal road flooding and high waters on slipways in and around Cowes, however no properties are expected to flood.
Light showers are forecast for the remainder of today, with 5-10mm of rain expected to fall in the area.
UPDATE @ 19:20 – All flood alerts have been revoked apart from the flood alert for the Eastern Yar, which will be updated tomorrow morning (Thursday).
