The Cowes Floating Bridge has been involved in a collision with a sailing yacht on the River Medina this afternoon (Friday).
The 2 vessels came into contact whilst the floating bridge was docking at East Cowes at just gone 16:00.
Vehicles have been able to unload onto the slipway at East Cowes, albeit at an unusual angle.
It is understood the Floating Bridge was being assisted by the now-regular tug at the time of the incident.
Cowes Harbour Master is on scene and is attempting to pull the yacht clear.
The cross-Medina service appears to be temporarily suspended whilst the incident is dealt with.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – The obstruction has been moved and the Cowes Floating Bridge is back in service.

The floating bridge had docked and the yacht ran into it… Yachts fault all day.
Sail always gives way to power
Not anymore
It’s unlikely to have been under sail in that narrow stretch.
