Fire crews from Shanklin and Ryde worked to contain and extinguish a fire at a flat in Ventnor earlier this evening (Thursday).
It was just before 18:40 that Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 2 appliances to a residential address on Victoria Street in the centre of town.
Crews worked quickly using a hose reel jet to bring the situation under control, before utilising positive pressure ventilation to rid lingering smoke from the property.
No injuries have been reported.
Victoria Street was cordoned off for a time, but has since reopened.
Resources were stood down and returning to station by 20:30.
