Firefighters from Ryde are attending a small cooker fire at a residential address in the town this lunchtime (Wednesday).
1 appliance and an officer have been mobilised to St John’s Wood Road following a 999 call by a concerned neighbour at around 12:15.
Crews have entered the property, but it has been discovered that the occupants have already tackled the small hob fire.
Positive Pressure Ventilation is now being used to clear smoke from the building. The frying pan has been removed from the property – complete with some very black bacon.
A second appliance from Newport was stood down whilst en-route.

Just for accuracy, it was not a hob fire or a frying pan. It was a grill pan that had been used to cook burger and bacon. The brilliant chef thought he had turned the grill off but was obviously mistaken. It was the fat that caught fire.
